Thermal gaskets work by reducing the speed at which heat soak from the cylinder head to inlet manifold can occur, in turn this reduces the temperature of the incoming air charge giving a slight gain in horsepower and knock resistance. A reduction in air temperature will result in a cooler and denser air charge and therefore a small power increase is potentially available by increasing ignition timing. Another benefit is that our thermal gaskets are reusable and will save you money by not having to by new gaskets every time you remove your inlet manifold.
Our thermal gaskets are manufactured from only the highest quality PTFE sheet. PTFE has excellent resistance to many chemicals and solvents and can withstand both high and low temperatures. These attributes make this ideal gasket material for our vehicles.
Please note that PTFE does have a relatively high deformation index and so it is recommended to retorque your inlet manifold studs after a couple of heat cycles to allow the material to settle.
