Thermal throttle body gaskets work by reducing the speed at which heat soak from the cylinder head to the inlet manifold can occur; in turn, this reduces the temperature of the incoming air charge, giving a slight gain in horsepower and knock resistance.
Reducing air temperature will result in a cooler and denser air charge; therefore, a slight power increase is potentially available by increasing ignition timing. Another benefit is that our thermal throttle body is reusable and will save money by not buying new gaskets every time you remove your inlet manifold or throttle body.
Our thermal throttle body gaskets are manufactured from only the highest quality PTFE sheet. PTFE is resistant to many chemicals and solvents and can withstand high and low temperatures. These attributes make this ideal gasket material for our vehicles.
Please note that PTFE does have a relatively high deformation index, so it is recommended to retorque your inlet manifold studs after a couple of heat cycles to allow the material to settle.
