To ensure proper fitment, trimming hoses may be needed. The thicker radiator extends further into the engine bay as we cannot have the radiator extend farther away from the engine bay due to the a/c condenser and radiator support bar. When the hose's mounting point is moved closer to the engine bay, the hose can rub against the pulleys/fans, causing damage. The WRX is not the only vehicle affected by this.
