Choose The Right Aluminium Heat Shield For Your Engine Bay, Firewall Or Underbody

The Exoracing Embossed Aluminium Heat Shield is a rigid, formable radiant heat barrier designed to protect vulnerable areas from exhaust, turbo, manifold and downpipe heat.

It can be trimmed, shaped and mounted around engine bays, firewalls, bulkheads, transmission tunnels, underbody panels, intake areas, fuel tanks, wiring, hoses and other heat-sensitive parts.

  • Size options: choose 300mm x 1000mm for smaller focused areas, or 600mm x 1000mm for larger panels, firewalls, bulkheads and underbody sections.
  • Material: embossed aluminium heat shield sheet with about 0.5mm base thickness and about 2mm embossed depth.
  • Temperature rating: continuous resistance up to about 600°C and short burst resistance up to about 1100°C.
  • Included: 1 embossed aluminium heat shield sheet, 12 self-tapping screws and Exoracing lifetime warranty.
  • Best use: ideal for shielding panels, wiring, hoses, fuel lines, intakes, bulkheads and floor areas from radiant heat.

Important: this product is for radiant heat shielding, not direct flame contact. Mount it securely, keep it away from moving parts, and leave an air gap where possible for better heat control.

Which Size Should I Choose?

  • 300mm x 1000mm: choose this for smaller focused areas such as wiring protection, intake shielding, turbo side panels, brake line shielding, fuel line shielding or small custom heat shields.
  • 600mm x 1000mm: choose this for larger areas such as firewalls, bulkheads, transmission tunnels, floor pans, fuel tank shielding, underbody panels or wider custom coverage.

If you are unsure, measure the area you need to protect first and allow extra material for bends, mounting points and trimming. For large or awkward panels, the bigger sheet is usually the safer choice because it gives you more room to shape and cut the shield properly.

Why Should You Use An Embossed Aluminium Heat Shield?

Exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, downpipes and hot engine bay components can radiate a serious amount of heat into nearby panels, hoses, wiring, fuel lines, intakes and cabin areas. Left unmanaged, this can lead to heat soak, brittle wiring, melted hoses, uncomfortable cabin temperatures and avoidable reliability issues.

The Exoracing Embossed Aluminium Heat Shield creates a rigid reflective barrier between the heat source and the part you want to protect. Unlike soft wrap or sleeve products, it is designed to shield a whole area rather than cover one hose, pipe or wire.

The embossed structure helps the sheet hold shape, improves rigidity, and creates small air gap points that can help the shield perform better when mounted correctly.

This makes it a strong choice for road cars, track cars, drift cars, turbo conversions, K swaps, engine bay builds, underbody shielding and custom motorsport style heat protection.

When Should You Fit This Heat Shield?

  • You have exhaust heat close to wiring, hoses, brake lines, fuel lines or intake parts.
  • You are building a turbo setup and need to protect nearby panels or components.
  • You want to reduce radiant heat transfer into a firewall, bulkhead, floor pan or transmission tunnel.
  • You are fitting a downpipe, manifold, external wastegate or custom exhaust section close to sensitive parts.
  • You want a rigid barrier where heat tape, sleeve or exhaust wrap is not the right solution.
  • You already have the exhaust, turbo, manifold or interior trim removed, making heat shielding easier to fit now.

Heat Shield vs Heat Tape vs Sleeve vs Exhaust Wrap

This aluminium heat shield is best when you need to protect a wider panel or area from radiant heat. If you need to protect a single hose, cable or line, an Exoracing silicone fibreglass heat sleeve may be a better fit. If you need to reduce heat directly from an exhaust pipe or manifold, Exoracing exhaust wrap may be more suitable. For flat surfaces where an adhesive reflective barrier is easier to apply, view our gold and silver heat reflective sheet.

Embossed Aluminium Heat Shield Installation Guide:

This heat shield can be cut, shaped and mounted to suit custom installs, but it must be fitted securely and safely.

  1. Identify the heat source and the component or panel you want to protect.
  2. Measure the area and mark the shield before cutting.
  3. Cut the shield to size using tin snips or suitable metal cutting tools.
  4. Wear gloves and eye protection, as cut aluminium edges can be sharp.
  5. Shape the shield by hand or with light tools to match the area being protected.
  6. Test fit the shield and check clearance around moving parts, steering parts, belts, driveshafts, suspension and exhaust movement.
  7. Mount the shield using the included self-tapping screws, rivets, clamps, brackets or suitable thermal standoffs.
  8. Where possible, leave an air gap between the heat shield and the protected surface for better radiant heat control.
  9. After fitting, run the vehicle and recheck that the shield is secure once everything has cooled down.

Installation difficulty: moderate DIY item. Professional installation is recommended if cutting, shaping or mounting near critical vehicle parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas can this aluminium heat shield protect?

It can be used to protect engine bay panels, firewalls, bulkheads, floor pans, transmission tunnels, underbody areas, fuel tanks, wiring looms, hoses, fuel lines, brake lines, intake areas and other parts exposed to radiant heat.

Which size should I choose?

Choose 300mm x 1000mm for smaller focused areas and 600mm x 1000mm for larger panels, firewalls, bulkheads, underbody sections or custom shielding jobs where extra material is useful.

Can I cut and bend the heat shield?

Yes. It can be trimmed and shaped for custom installs. Use suitable cutting tools, wear gloves and eye protection, and take care with sharp edges after cutting.

Does this replace exhaust wrap or heat sleeve?

No. It solves a different problem. This heat shield protects wider areas and panels from radiant heat. Exhaust wrap is used directly on exhaust parts, and heat sleeve is used around hoses, wiring and lines.

Should I leave an air gap behind the heat shield?

Yes, where possible. A small air gap between the shield and the protected surface can improve radiant heat control and stop the shield from sitting directly against the part you are trying to protect.

Can this be used inside the car?

Yes, it can be used inside the vehicle on areas such as floor pans, firewalls or transmission tunnels, provided it is mounted securely and sharp edges are managed safely.

Is this suitable for direct flame contact?

No. This product is designed for radiant heat shielding, not direct flame contact.

What comes in the box?

You receive 1 Exoracing Embossed Aluminium Heat Shield Sheet, 12 self-tapping screws and Exoracing lifetime warranty.

Notes:
