Choose The Right Heat Reflective Sheet For Panels, Airboxes And Intake Areas

The Exoracing gold and silver heat reflective sheet is a large adhesive-backed thermal barrier designed to reflect radiant heat away from flat or shaped surfaces. It is ideal for airboxes, intake pipework, bulkheads, floor panels, transmission tunnels, engine covers, fuel cells, radiator panels and other areas exposed to turbo, manifold or exhaust heat.

  • Best for: large panels, airboxes, intake areas, bulkheads and heat shields
  • Sheet size: 1m x 1.2m
  • Material: lightweight polymer laminated glass cloth with gold or silver reflective foil face
  • Temperature rating: 450°C continuous and 1100°C intermittent
  • Application: cut to shape, peel the backing and apply to a clean non-porous surface
  • Included: 1 reflective sheet, 1 microfibre cloth, 1 squeegee and Exoracing lifetime warranty

Fitment: use heat reflective sheet when you need to cover a larger surface area. If you are wrapping narrow intake pipework, smaller covers or curved sections, Exoracing gold and silver heat reflective tape may be easier to apply.

Why Use Gold Or Silver Heat Reflective Sheet?

Radiant heat from turbos, manifolds, downpipes and exhaust systems can quickly heat-soak nearby panels and intake parts. Once an airbox, intake pipe or bulkhead starts absorbing that heat, intake temperatures can rise and nearby components can suffer from repeated heat exposure.

Exoracing heat reflective sheet gives you a large, cut-to-shape barrier that reflects radiant heat before it soaks into the surface underneath. It is especially useful on airboxes, intake ducts, bulkheads, floor panels, seat bases, fuel cells, radiator panels and engine bay covers where a sleeve or wrap would not be the right shape.

The sheet is thin, lightweight and adhesive-backed, so it can be shaped around flat panels and gentle curves without adding unnecessary bulk. It can reflect up to 80% of radiant heat, making it a strong upgrade for fast-road, track, drift and drag cars where engine bay heat management matters.

If the heat source is the turbo itself, reduce heat at the source first with an Exoracing turbo blanket, then use reflective sheet on nearby panels or intake areas. If you need to protect hoses, wiring or lines, use silicone fibreglass heat sleeve or Velcro heat sleeve instead.

Which Exoracing Heat Protection Product Do I Need?

Product type Best use Choose this when
Heat reflective sheet Large panels, airboxes, bulkheads, floor panels and heat shields You need to cover a bigger surface and cut it to shape
Heat reflective tape Intake pipes, small panels, covers and curved sections A roll is easier than cutting a large sheet
Turbo blanket Turbocharger turbine housings You want to reduce heat at the turbo before protecting nearby parts
Exhaust wrap Manifolds, downpipes and exhaust sections You need to keep heat inside the exhaust pipe itself
Heat sleeve Hoses, wiring, fuel lines, brake lines and oil lines You need to protect a round hose, cable or loom

Heat Reflective Sheet Installation Guide

  1. Test fit the sheet and mark the area you want to protect.
  2. Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly with the supplied microfibre cloth. Isopropyl alcohol is ideal for removing oil, dirt and silicone residue.
  3. Make sure the surface is dry, smooth and non-porous before applying the sheet.
  4. Cut the sheet to shape using scissors or a sharp blade.
  5. Peel back a small section of the backing paper and line up the first edge.
  6. Apply firm pressure with the supplied squeegee while slowly removing the backing paper.
  7. Work from the centre outwards to reduce trapped air and creases.
  8. Check all edges are fully pressed down, especially around curves and corners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose gold or silver?

Both options are designed for radiant heat reflection. Choose gold if you want the classic motorsport heat-shield look, or silver if you want a more subtle finish around the engine bay, underbody or interior panels.

What surfaces can I apply it to?

Apply it to clean, dry, smooth, non-porous surfaces such as bare aluminium, stainless steel, painted panels, plastic airboxes and smooth covers. Avoid porous, dirty, oily or heavily textured surfaces, as the adhesive will not bond as well.

Is this better than heat reflective tape?

Use sheet for larger flat areas and cut-to-shape panel work. Use heat reflective tape for smaller areas, narrow sections, pipework or curved pieces where a roll is easier to handle.

Can I use this directly on exhaust parts?

No. Heat reflective sheet is for nearby surfaces that need radiant heat protection. For exhaust manifolds, downpipes or pipework, use Exoracing exhaust wrap.

Does the sheet include fitting tools?

Yes. It includes a microfibre cloth and squeegee to help clean the surface and apply the sheet smoothly.

Notes

  • The sheet is rated to 850°F / 450°C continuous and 2000°F / 1100°C intermittent.
  • Do not install on porous or contaminated surfaces.
  • Clean and degrease the surface before application for the best adhesive bond.
  • Use reflective sheet on nearby panels and shields, not directly on exhaust pipes.
