Which Turbo Blanket Size Should I Choose?
Choosing the correct turbo blanket size matters. A blanket that is too small may not cover the turbine housing properly, while one that is too large can sit loose and move around once the car is running.
- T25: choose this for smaller T25 frame turbochargers and compact turbine housings. Approximate inner circumference is 17 inches, and approximate inner width is 2.25 inches.
- T3: Choose this for medium T3 frame turbochargers. Approximate inner circumference is 19 inches, and approximate inner width is 3.0 inches.
- T4: choose this for larger T4 frame turbochargers. Approximate inner circumference is 22 inches, and approximate inner width is 3.5 inches.
Measure the turbine housing before ordering. The blanket should sit snugly around the hot side of the turbo without needing to be forced into place or sitting loose enough to move around.

Turbo Blanket Size Guide
| Turbo Blanket Size | Approx Inner Circumference | Approx Inner Width |
| T25 | 17 inches | 2.25 inches |
| T3 | 19 inches | 3.0 inches |
| T4 | 22 inches | 3.5 inches |
Why Use The Exoracing Turbo Blanket V3?
Turbochargers create extreme heat around the turbine housing. If that heat is left unmanaged, it can radiate into the engine bay and affect hoses, wiring, paintwork, intake pipework, brake lines, oil lines, coolant lines and nearby components.
The Exoracing Turbo Blanket V3 helps contain heat at the turbocharger hot side. This reduces radiant heat around the turbo and gives nearby components a better chance of surviving hard road, track, drift and dyno use.
Keeping more heat inside the turbine housing can also help the turbo system behave more consistently, especially during repeated pulls, long sessions or high load use.
The V3 design uses a 4-layer construction with a carbon or titanium weave exterior, silica insulation wool centre and stainless steel wire mesh interior. Stainless steel hook anchors and spring fasteners help keep the blanket secured around the turbine housing.
When Should You Fit A Turbo Blanket?
- Your turbo sits close to wiring, hoses, brake lines, oil lines, coolant lines or paintwork.
- Your engine bay suffers from heat soak after hard driving.
- You are building a turbocharged road, track, drift or drag car.
- You are fitting a new turbo, manifold, downpipe or wastegate setup.
- You want to reduce radiant heat before protecting nearby lines with a heat sleeve.
- You already have the turbo area apart, making installation easier.
Turbo Blanket vs Exhaust Wrap vs Heat Sleeve
A turbo blanket is best for containing heat at the turbocharger turbine housing. Exoracing exhaust wrap is better for manifolds, downpipes and exhaust pipework. Exoracing silicone fibreglass heat sleeve is better for protecting individual hoses, wiring, brake lines, oil lines and coolant lines near the heat source.
For the best heat management setup, control the heat at the source first, then protect the nearby components that are still exposed. View the full Exoracing heat management range for turbo blankets, exhaust wrap, heat sleeves, reflective tape and heat shields.

Turbo Blanket Installation Guide
The Exoracing Turbo Blanket V3 is designed to fit over the turbine housing of the turbocharger and secure using the supplied stainless steel spring fasteners.
- Allow the turbocharger and engine bay to cool fully before installation.
- Wear gloves to help prevent skin irritation from heat-resistant fibres.
- Check the turbo area for oil, fuel, coolant or power steering fluid leaks before fitting.
- Remove any parts blocking access to the turbocharger turbine housing.
- Place the turbo blanket over the hot side of the turbo, not the compressor side.
- Make sure the blanket sits snugly around the turbine housing without covering actuator arms, wastegate linkages or moving parts.
- Secure the blanket using the supplied stainless steel spring fasteners between the anchor hooks.
- Check that the blanket is secure and does not slide around the turbine housing.
- After the first heat cycle, allow everything to cool fully and recheck the blanket and spring fasteners.
Installation difficulty: beginner-friendly if access is good. Some engine bays may require intake pipework, heat shields, or brackets to be moved for better access.

Safety And Fitment Checks
- Install only when the turbocharger is completely cold.
- Check for oil, fuel, coolant and power steering fluid leaks before fitting.
- Do not fit over damaged, leaking or unsafe turbo setups.
- Do not cover actuator arms, wastegate linkages, compressor housings or moving parts.
- Light smoke during the first few heat cycles can be normal as moisture and manufacturing residue burn off.
- If smoke is heavy, smells like oil or fuel, or does not stop, switch the car off and inspect the area.
- Recheck the blanket and spring fasteners after the first heat cycle.
- Professional installation is recommended if access is poor or you are not confident working around turbo components.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a turbo blanket do?
A turbo blanket contains heat around the turbine housing of the turbocharger. This helps reduce radiant engine bay heat and protect nearby components such as hoses, wiring, paintwork, intake pipework and fluid lines.
Which turbo blanket size do I need?
Choose T25, T3 or T4 based on your turbo frame size and turbine housing measurements. The blanket should sit snugly around the turbine housing without being stretched, forced or left loose.
Can I use this turbo blanket on a V-band turbo?
Yes, it can be used on many V-band turbo setups, but the fit may not hug the housing as tightly as a traditional flanged turbocharger. Use the sizing guide to choose the closest-fitting blanket for your application.
Can a turbo blanket reduce turbo lag?
A turbo blanket can help retain heat in the turbine housing, which can support more consistent turbo behaviour. The biggest benefit for most builds is better heat control and protection for nearby components.
Can a turbo blanket catch fire?
A turbo blanket should only be fitted to a clean, leak-free setup. The main fire risk comes from contamination such as oil, fuel, coolant, power steering fluid or other flammable liquids soaking into the blanket.
Will the blanket smoke after fitting?
Light smoke during the first few heat cycles can be normal as moisture and manufacturing residue burn off. If the smoke is heavy, smells like oil or fuel, or does not stop, switch the car off and inspect the turbo area.
Can I fit a turbo blanket with the turbo still on the car?
Yes, in many cases, the blanket can be fitted with the turbo still on the car. Access is the deciding factor. Some engine bays may need intake pipework, heat shields or brackets removed first.
Should I use a heat sleeve as well?
Yes, if hoses, wiring, brake lines, oil lines or coolant lines are still close to the turbo. A turbo blanket controls heat at the turbine housing, while a heat sleeve protects the nearby parts directly.
