Choose The Right Sewn Heat Sleeve For Hoses, Wiring And Lines

Exoracing sewn heat sleeve is designed to protect hoses, wiring looms, oil lines, coolant lines and other engine bay parts from radiant heat. The sleeve slides over the part before installation, giving a clean permanent finish for planned hose, wiring and line routes. If you need to protect parts already fitted to the car, use Exoracing Velcro heat sleeve instead.

  • Length: supplied in 0.5m lengths. Order quantity 2 for one continuous 1m length.
  • Size options: 15mm ID, 20mm ID, 25mm ID and 30mm ID
  • Colour options: gold or silver
  • Temperature rating: 260°C direct / 600°C radiant / 1100°C melting temperature
  • Material: lightweight polymer-laminated glass cloth

Important: measure the outside diameter of the hose, cable or line you want to protect and choose the closest sleeve size up. If the route has tight bends or bulky fittings, choose the next size up. For more help, use our heat sleeve size chart.

Why Use Exoracing Sewn Heat Sleeve?

High engine bay temperatures can make hoses, wiring looms and fluid lines brittle over time. This is especially common near exhaust manifolds, turbochargers, downpipes and other high-heat areas.

Exoracing sewn heat sleeve helps reduce heat exposure by placing a protective reflective sleeve around the part you want to protect. It is ideal for planned installations where the hose, line or wiring can be fed through the sleeve before final fitting. For already-installed hoses or wiring, Velcro heat sleeve is usually the easier choice.

The sewn construction gives a tidy, durable finish, while the gold or silver outer layer helps reflect radiant heat away from the protected part. It is a strong choice for oil feed lines, coolant lines, breather hoses, wiring looms and other parts routed through hot engine bay areas.

Which Size Should I Choose?

  • 15mm ID: choose this for smaller hoses, wiring and compact line protection.
  • 20mm ID: choose this for medium hoses, wiring groups and general engine bay protection.
  • 25mm ID: choose this for larger hoses, thicker wiring looms or lines with extra movement.
  • 30mm ID: choose this for larger diameter hoses or where extra clearance is needed around bends or fittings.

Measure the outside diameter of the part, not the inside diameter. If the sleeve needs to pass over fittings, bends or connectors, size up to make installation easier. If you are between sizes, check our heat sleeve size chart before ordering.

Installation Guide:

Sewn heat sleeve is best fitted before the hose, wiring or line is installed, as the protected part needs to be fed through the sleeve. If the part is already fitted and you do not want to disconnect it, use Exoracing Velcro heat sleeve.

  1. Measure the length of hose, cable or line you want to protect.
  2. Measure the outside diameter and choose the closest sleeve size up.
  3. Cut the sleeve to length using sharp scissors.
  4. Feed the hose, wiring or line through the sleeve.
  5. Route the protected part away from direct contact with exhaust or moving components.
  6. If needed, secure each end using stainless steel cable ties, heat shrink or wire.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the correct size?

Measure the outside diameter of the hose, cable or line you are protecting and choose the closest sleeve size up. If the route has tight bends or bulky fittings, choose the next size up.

What is sewn heat sleeve best used for?

It is best used for planned installations where hoses, wiring or lines can be fed through the sleeve before fitting. It gives a cleaner permanent finish than wrap-around sleeve.

What is the difference between sewn heat sleeve and Velcro heat sleeve?

Sewn heat sleeve is fed over the part before installation and gives a tidy permanent finish. Velcro heat sleeve is better when the hose, wiring or line is already fitted and you need to retrofit protection without disconnecting it.

Can I cut it to length?

Yes. Cut the sleeve to the required length using sharp scissors. Secure the ends if needed to keep the sleeve positioned correctly.

Should I choose gold or silver?

Both colours are designed for heat protection. Choose the colour that best matches your engine bay or surrounding heat-management products.

Notes:

  • Measure the outside diameter of the part you are protecting before ordering.
  • Choose the next size up for tight bends, bulky fittings or awkward routing.
  • Do not allow the sleeve to sit directly against moving parts or sharp edges.
  • For already-installed hoses or wiring, consider Velcro heat sleeve instead.
  • Professional installation is recommended if fitting near hot, moving or safety-critical components.
